A ‘fare’ move

Air Canada continued full speed ahead for more online sales with its announcement it was expanding its new fare structure to include travel to and from the US. The airline reported that since it launched a new fare structure in May of 2003 for travel within Canada, its online ticket sales at www.aircanada.com have more than tripled. More than half of the airline’s domestic ticket sales are made online, with half of those generated through its dedicated travel agency website at www.aircanada.com/agents, reported the Canadian Travel Press. The fare structure features six different choices — Tango, Econo, Fun, Latitude, Freedom and Executive. They will be available now for travel to and from Newark, New Orleans, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and six cities in Florida – Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach and Ft. Myers. By this spring, the airline said passengers traveling to and from all 80 of their US cities will have access to the fares. The fares will also be available through the airline’s Star Alliance partner, United Airlines.
