Italian resort puckers up for massive kissing competition
It has been a difficult year for the travel industry worldwide, so it comes a no major surprise to see resorts come up with new initiatives aimed at attracting more visitors.
But one Italian resort has devised a simply lip-smacking way to attract attention; the World Kissing Day Games. The event was held at the Acquafan park in the resort of Riccione, and organisers reckon some 10,000 smackers were planted during the course of the event.
Specialist categories including underwater kissing and basketball kissing were included; the underwater event winners managed a lip-tingling 29 seconds before they had to surface for air. The longest kiss competition was won with a time of 32 minutes – impressive enough but still a lightweight effort compared to the world record of 30 hours.
The organisers had been planning to hold another competition next year but this year’s event was such a success there are plans to repeat it later this summer. So if you are heading to Riccione this summer, be sure to take some balm …
