A message from the Solomon Islands

Friday, 02 May, 2006 0

Dear Colleagues,

As you may have heard in the news, the night curfew in Honiara has now been lifted.

The situation in Honiara today is business as usual.

In another unfortunate development, we regret to announce that the cruise-ship, Pacific Princess, voyage PA016 which is scheduled to arrive in Honiara on Tuesday 2 May 2006 has now been cancelled due to security concerns in the port of Honiara following the recent civil unrest, however, we are optimistic that other cruise-ships that are scheduled to visit other parts of the country later in the year would not be affected.

On the positive side, however, we are happy to inform you that 13 Japanese tourists will arrive in Honiara early next week and will spend one night in Munda on their way to Gizo before returning to Honiara and back to Japan.

We are thankful for the support of Karen & Owen Davidson of South Pacific Tours in Cairns for their efforts in reassuring their travel agent in Japan not to cancel the trip to Solomon Islands following the recent civil unrest in Honiara.

I salute you Karen & Owen for seeing the other side of Solomon Islands.

Best Regards

Michael Tokuru
