A sure bet: record tourism in Nevada
The state of Nevada hosted more than 50.5 million visitors last year, a single-year record, according to state tourism officials.
The state’s 4% statewide visitor growth was overshadowed by the record 34.7 million visitors to Las Vegas. Numbers there were up 5.2% from 2003.
Tourism officials also said their efforts to attract “adventure travelers” to rural areas was successful.
The previous state record of 49.5 million annual visitors was set in 2000. Statewide visitor numbers fell in the years after the New York City terrorist attacks in 2001.
