AA to go back to the table with pilots’ union
Beleaguered with a rash of rumored sick outs by pilots, flight cancellations and hundreds of delayed flights, American Airlines has issued a new invitation to negotiation with the Allied Pilots Association.
The invitation was received by APA president Keith Wilson who called his Board of Directors to a meeting on Wednesday to discuss next steps.
In related coverage, The Wall Street Journal’s Susan Carey cited AA’s performance figures as well below average with flight cancellations currently running from 3% to 5% daily "in an industry where 1% is considered a bad day."
Meanwhile, the Internet is buzzing with comments from passengers saying that even AA flight attendants and ground staff are blaming the delays and other problems on deliberate pilot sick outs and stalling tactics.
American Airlines said it sent out apologies to AAdvantage members recently about the delays, explaining that they were doing everything they could to resolve the situation.
