Aberdeen airport to go International
Aberdeen Airport is to re-brand itself as Aberdeen International.
The change follows parent company BAA dropping its name from its individual airports.
BAA announced in November plans to let them operate under their own stand-alone brand as it said the name no longer fitted after selling stakes in Gatwick, Edinburgh, Budapest, Naples and soon Stansted, see previous story.
It is hoped the new name will boost the airport’s expansion – particularly for holidaymakers – and increase its range of destinations.
Airport managing director Derek Provan told the BBC: "This is an exciting time for the airport and for our customers."
"We have been successful in recent years in introducing new international routes to Aberdeen, and will continue to strive to do so."
