Abu Dhabi hotel guests from Australia increased 12 percent in the first five months of 2011 compared to the January -May 2010 figure.

Australians are also staying longer in Abu Dhabi as guest nights by Australians increased 19% in January-May 2011 compared to the first five months of 2010.

Overall, a strong performance by Abu Dhabi’s hotels and hotel apartments in the first five months of 2011 saw increases in guest numbers, guest nights, occupancy, revenue and length-of-stay, according to the latest figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).

“Hotel stays in Abu Dhabi are now more affordable than other established upscale destinations including Dubai, Paris, Sydney, New York, Rome and Tokyo,” said Lawrence Franklin, strategy & policy director, ADTA.

Major events such as November’s F1 motor racing Grand Prix and the 2012 Volvo Ocean Race will keep the spotlight on Abu Dhabi ahead of the opening of its major investments in The Louvre museum and the Guggenheim contemporary arts museum, both to be located on Saadiyat Island.
