Accor selected for two new Maldives resorts
Global hotel group Accor will manage two new build resort hotels planned for the Maldives.
Owner Pristine Island Investments has selected Accor for the all-villa Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, due to open in 2016 and the 120-villa Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort slated for a 2018 opening.
Both are located in the lesser developed Gaafu Alifu Atoll in the Indian Ocean.
The Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort will feature some over-water villas along with an all-day restaurant, swimming pool, spa, gym and dive centre.
Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort will be on its own island with 80 of the 120 villas over the water.
There will be two restaurants, a spa and fitness centre, tennis court, kids club and water sports centre.
"The upscale Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort and mid-scale Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort will be our first two hotel developments in the Maldives and we are pleased to partner with Accor which has a large brand portfolio," said Ronald Leo, CEO of Pristine Island Investments.
"We believe that this partnership, with our collective experience, will create a new and very exciting holiday destination in the Maldives."
