Active Hotels’ bookings soar following England’s exit from Euro 2004
Cambridge, 5th July 2004: Following England’s unfortunate defeat by Portugal, hotel reservations on-line have rocketed by over 20% according to Active Hotels, one of Europe’s leading on-line hotel booking companies. Andrew Phillipps, CEO, says “We saw the same trend during the World Cup. People tend to hold back from booking their holiday until England’s fate becomes clear. We saw a large peak in bookings on www.activereservations.com immediately after the match, presumably as people consoled themselves by booking a holiday.” When asked about UK bookings to Switzerland, he declined to comment on whether the UK public were booking or cancelling trips to Switzerland following the controversial refereeing, but added that Active Hotels is now processing over £500,000 of reservations per day throughout Europe. -End- —————————————————————————————— About Active Hotels Active Hotels is Europe’s leading online reservations provider, offering excellent hotels, prices and availability throughout Europe.
