‘Saving’ the American vacation
Tourism officials in Branson have an ambitious undertaking. They say they are helping to save the American vacation.
“We have created a group of affordably priced family packages which offer a combination of lodging, shows, restaurant vouchers, gift baskets and tickets to attractions that many families will be able to take advantage of in 2008, despite the tough economic times” said Lianne Milton, owner of Branson Tourism Center (BTC).
The area says it is campaigning to counter the nation’s current economic woes by offering “activity-rich, high value, affordable vacation experiences to America’s families.”
One example of BTC’s Affordable Family Summer Fun Package includes: 5 nights lodging (6 days); tickets for mom, dad and two children (17 and under) to attend 3 different shows; tickets for the entire family for Laser Tag/Mini-Golf, $60 in meal vouchers; a VIP Savings Book (with coupons valued at more than $1500); a Snack Basket in visitors hotel rooms and a double BTC gas discount. Total price: $599.
Said Ms Milton:
“Branson has always been a reliable choice for budget-conscious travelers and 2008 will be no different. Branson offers a variety of world-class amenities for families. Award-winning theme parks, water parks, go-carts, laser-tag, miniature golf, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, the list goes on.”
Tourism officials say the state has one of the lowest gas prices anywhere. Other discounts are also being offered.
