Aer Lingus’ Manchester – New York service takes flight
Aer Lingus celebrated the departure of its very first direct flight from Manchester to New York, JFK as the airline expands its transatlantic services for customers in the UK.
It marks Aer Lingus’ first direct flight between the UK and the United States.
The Irish flag carrier is also gearing up for the inaugural service from Manchester to Orlando in Florida on 11 December.
The two new routes are part of the airline’s ambitious schedule plans for 2022.
Reid Moody, Aer Lingus Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, said: "It marks a very important day for Aer Lingus, as we recover and expand our transatlantic network."
From 3 December, passengers flying Aer Lingus to JFK will experience the new Airbus A321LR single aisle aircraft.
The new aircraft has greater fuel-efficiency, with a 15% reduction in fuel burn, compared to an A321CEO and a 50% reduction in noise compared to previous generation aircraft.
It features a Business Class cabin with 16 fully lie-flat seats, and an Economy Class cabin with complimentary meal and snack and soft drink in-flight.
Aer Lingus will operate four weekly flights from Manchester to Orlando, with fares starting from £209 each way (including taxes and charges), departing Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
