Aeromexico to restart Boeing Max flights next week
Aeromexico plans to operate its first Boeing 737 Max flights since the plane was grounded globally in early 2019.
It has scheduled four flight segments with a single Max plane on 21 December.
That would make it the second airline in the world to resume commercial Max flights after Brazil’s GOL.
American Airlines is expected to be the third when it restarts Max flights on 29 December.
If the schedule goes ahead as planned, the Mexican carrier will operate a round trip and an additional one-way flight between Mexico City and Cancun as well as a one-way segment to Tijuana.
The airline hopes to slowly ramp up flight frequencies and add more Max aircraft to its schedules by 24 December.
Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency recertified the plane with an Airworthiness Directive earlier this month.
Aeromexico currently has six 737 Max 8 aircraft in its fleet.
