After long wait, Air India finally gets its Dreamliner
Air India has taken delivery of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner.
Air India is the fifth airline in the world to purchase the aircraft that aviation experts are calling "the sportscar of the sky."
The delivery, which was delayed from the original September 2008 date because of design and production issues, is the first of 27 Dreamliners for the airline. The airplane is equipped with 18 business class seats and 238 economy class seats.
Air India initially ordered 27 Dreamliners. The next 14 are scheduled to be received by March of next year.
The national carrier is planning to launch Dreamliner flights on several long-haul international sectors, as well as on a newly scheduled flight to Australia later this year.
