“Agents earn more online” – Travelscene

Wednesday, 13 Aug, 2004 0

Average commission earnings on accommodation-only bookings have risen by 18% for agents booking online rather than using viewdata, Travelscene claims.

The operator has calculated that productive agents using its website to book European city hotels since May have boosted their accommodation-only earnings to an average of 18% over five bookings.

Travelscene has extended an offer of 50% commission paid for every fifth accommodation booking made online at www.travelscene.co.uk until September 30 for travel by the end of the year. The move is designed to encourage agents to switch from viewdata to booking via the website.

The company’s sales director John Harding said: “It has been a gradual process but we are now finding that an increasing number of agents have started to book online instead of using viewdata.

“Having evaluated their earnings, we have established that their average commission has grown to 18%, a great financial reward for little time outlay and with the bonus of full consumer protection.”
