Agents encouraged to go online with New England resorts at WTM
Accommodation in New England is to become available for agents to book online through a new website being unveiled at World Travel Market.
The site, www.innsandresortsofnewengland.com has been created by the New England Inns and Resorts Association in response to agents requests for a “one stop shop” to cater for the demand for bed and breakfast inns, and boutique hotels in the region.
Up to 60 properties are to particpate in the scheme with ther majority offering at least 10% commission on bookings at the time of the site going live.
The site is due to go live in January and will coincide with a “Preferred Agents Club” which invites independent agents to sign up for training to help maximise commissions and sales.
To join the scheme agents are required to host an in-house or attend a training course, display and distribute collateral and provide market and booking information on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. NEIRA will keep agents updated via a regular mailings, and list them as a ‘Preferred Agent’ on the NEIRA website
Extra benefits for agents joining the club will include: a prize to the top selling agency on a monthly basis; five nights complimentary accommodation at a NEIRA member property (flights not included) for the top selling agent following six months sales and an award for the top overall agency at the end of 12 months, with five nights complimentary accommodation at a NEIRA property and two return airline tickets to New England. NEIRA will host one staff member from the top five agencies at WTM 2006.
NEIRA chairman Bob Smith said: “We will work closely with the agents as the UK is the largest market for Inns and Resorts in New England. We need to make it easy for agents to book the correct property for their clients and receive their commissions in a timely manner”.
He told TravelMole: “There has been a trend we have seen where independent agents feel comfortable with a particular property in our area, they will book it direct becasue there is more demand for people to hire a car and go.”
