Agents ‘on road to recovery’
NTL Business (Travel Division) says it can produce evidence of an improvement in revenues processed by UK agents this summer.
The company says its agent payment systems processed revenues of £53 million in July – up £11 million from the previous month, and up £3.5 million year-on-year.
A spokesman for the company said: “It is to be expected that the figures for July will be higher than June because July is a busier month. But the fact that July this year was up on last year is a good sign that agents are doing more business with operators.”
NTL provides payment systems to over 4,000 ABTA, Travel Trust Association, Worldchoice and Advantage Travel Centres agents.
NTL Business (Travel Division) marketing director, Jill Cox said: “During the summer we saw agents make more revenue from selling than over the same period in 2002. The figures from June and July give us every indication that the industry is cautiously setting out on the road to recovery.”
