KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia has blamed the cost of fuel plus newly implemented visa restrictions on PRC residents visiting Macau for its decision to cut back services to Macau.

The airline said passenger numbers have been dropping, “and we don’t see a clear picture in the future”.

AirAsia has cancelled one flight from Bangkok to Macau, and one flight from Kuala Lumpur to Macau.

And at the end of this month, all flights between Kuching, Johor Baru and Kota Kinabula and Macau will be cancelled .

The carrier will retain three daily flights from BKK-MFM and three daily flight KUL-MFM.
