Air Astana signs codeshare pact with Lufthansa

Monday, 17 Mar, 2017 0
Kazakhstan carrier Air Astana has deepened its cooperation with Lufthansa, announcing a codeshare agreement which takes effect from next week.

The new agreement includes Air Astana’s flights from Astana to Frankfurt and Lufthansa services from Frankfurt to Almaty and Astana from March 26.

The codeshare allows customers of both airlines to choose flights  that best suits their schedule regardless of airline.

It now doubles the options to 14 flights per week and allows customers to combine carriers for a roundtrip itinerary on a single ticket and code.

"I’m delighted that the longstanding co-operative relationship between Air Astana and Lufthansa is being further strengthened with the signing of the codeshare agreement. Passengers flying from Almaty and Astana to Frankfurt can now enjoy a greater choice of flights to best suit their schedules and the convenience of simply using the ticket of either of the two airlines," said Peter Foster, president and chief executive officer of Air Astana.

"This is a winning step for both airlines and their passengers flying between Kazakhstan and Germany."

To facilitate the improved connectivity with Lufthansa, Air Astana will relocate to Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport.
