Air Astana’s new LCC announces first routes
The newest Eurasian low cost carrier is prepping for its long awaited launch in just a few weeks.
FlyArystan, the brand-new low fare unit of Kazakhstan’s Air Astana launches on May 1, and selected Taraz and Uralsk as the first domestic routes from Almaty International Airport.
Tickets are now on sale at www.flyarystan.com with one-way fares from US$13 to Taraz and US$34 to Uralsk.
The airline will initially only fly domestic routes, under a conventional low cost business model, but is targeting regional international routes in the mid-term.
"FlyArystan adds strength to what we can now call the Air Astana Group. It enables us to effectively compete in the growing low-cost travel segment in our country on better than equal terms with other airlines," said Peter Foster, president and CEO of Air Astana Group.
Tim Jordan was named as head of FlyArystan.
"With only a month to go before the launch of our first services to Taraz and Uralsk, we are delighted at the immediate strong market response and look forward to welcoming our first customers," Jordan said.
FlyArystan will operate Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 economy seats on the two routes and begins with a fleet of four jets.
It expects to grow the fleet size to at least 15 jets by 2022.
