Air Canada new Galileo contract include web fares
Galileo International signed a contract with Air Canada to provide agents complete access to all published fares in return for reduced booking fees.
Galileo agents will have full access to the expanded Air Canada content including all types of service, including Tango, Fun and Latitude fares, according to Air Canada.
The fares will be integrated into all fares displays. For the first 90 days, there will be no added booking fees or opt-in requirements for Galileo subscribers to Air Canada.
“Today’s announcement represents another important step in the evolution of our distribution model,” said Marc Rosenberg, vice president sales and product distribution, Air Canada.
He said Galileo-connected agents will have more choice, flexibility and efficiency. Air Canada, in turn, will be able to further reduce its distribution costs.
He added:
“Galileo agencies in Canada, the US and globally will now have access not only to our published fares, but also to Air Canada’s popular one way web fares — Freedom, Latitude, Fun and Tango through the Galileo GDS system.”
The agreement, which was an amendment to an existing contract, went into effect 15 October.
Galileo International, a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation, is a global technology leader whose core business is providing electronic GDS services.
The Montreal-based Air Canada is the 11th largest commercial airline in the world, serving more than 30 million customers yearly.
