Air China launching first nonstop flights to Shenzhen from LA
China’s southern city of Shenzhen will get its first ever link with Los Angeles later this year.
Air China announced it will begin flying three times a week – on Monday, Thursday and Saturday – from December 7.
Air China will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route.
The airline currently flies three times daily to LAX from Beijing.
Shenzhen is China’s answer to Silicon Valley and is also dubbed ‘City of the Future.’
"With China as Los Angeles’ top trading partner, we are committed to growing and strengthening the economic and cultural ties between the two. The new nonstop Los Angeles-Shenzhen service brings together two of the world’s leading technology and innovation hubs," said Dr. Zhihang Chi, Air China’s vice president and general manager.
"At no time is the connectivity between these two cities more needed than it is now when China’s homegrown tech companies with headquarters in Shenzhen are expanding their presence and direct investments in the United States. This new service offers more options for business and leisure travel to Shenzhen and Hong Kong which is only 19 miles away."
LA is one of the top US destinations for Chinese visitors and was the first city in the US to top one million Chinese visitors a year.
