Air India could have new owner by summer
The much-delayed privatisation of Air India could be completed before the summer, says Minister for Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri. Speaking at a business event, Puri says it is on rack to complete by June 2021.
He said earlier attempts to privatise the national airline ran into trouble because of ‘half hearted’ bids. There are currently two front runners – Indian conglomerate Tata Sons and a consortium including SpiceJet promoter Ajay Singh.
Up for grabs is 100% of Air India, Air India Express and a 50% share of Air ndia’s ground handling business.
