Air New Zealand welcomes ATC agreement
WELLINGTON –Air New Zealand has welcomed news that Airways New Zealand and the New Zealand Airline Pilots Association have reached an agreement to ensure regional air traffic control towers will not need to be closed during set break times.
The agreement means that the 25 flights per week that were to be cancelled by Air New Zealand because of the lack of ATC cover during meal breaks can now continue to operate.
In a separate issue, Air NZ said it aims to maintain its full schedule over Easter, despite the planned strike action by Zeal cabin crew.
“We have around 100 fully qualified Air New Zealand staff, many of whom have volunteered, to operate as cabin crew to cover the Zeal roster in the lead up to Easter,†said Bruce Parton, group general manager short haul airlines
“As a result, we expect to be able to operate all services with no disruption to customers’ travel plans.â€
