Air NZ adding new trans-Tasman routes
Just days after announcing it will ditch the trans-Tasman alliance with Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand has revealed two new routes to Australia.
Air NZ will start Brisbane flights from Queenstown and Wellington up to four and five times a week respectively from December 18.
It will also increase by 15% trans-Tasman capacity to and from Christchurch from October 2018.
Air NZ will also operate more flights from Auckland to Brisbane and Sydney.
Reservations are now live for the new flights.
Air New Zealand said last week the Virgin Australia partnership will formerly end on October 27.
‘Ultimately we do believe that we service our customers better in an adjacent market with our own aircraft, our own staff, our own product,” said Cam Wallace, Air New Zealand’s chief revenue officer.
Air New Zealand passengers booked to travel on a Virgin Australia designated flight from October 28 will be reassigned on Air NZ services.
