Air NZ introduces in-flight concierges
An NZPA report says that in a world-first, Air New Zealand will introduce in-flight concierge staff for international flights to serve passengers’ needs.
The 90 new staff will be introduced in April next year, most likely on flights between Auckland and Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and Hong Kong.
Air New Zealand’s international manager Ed Sims told The New Zealand Herald the concierges would ensure that everyone travelling with Air New Zealand received personal attention, no matter how full the aircraft.
The concierge role would involve assisting customers with travel advice, as well as in-flight help.
Mr Sims said he did not expect fares to rise as a result of having the extra crew member.
The move has been applauded by the Government, with Tourism Minister Damien O’Connor calling the service innovative, adding, “Air New Zealand will lead the world in in-flight service and enhance the value of a New Zealand holiday experience for visitors and the tourism industry”.
