Air Passenger Duty to increase airfares

The UK budget confirmed flying is going to get more expensive for some.

Air Passenger Duty is set to rise in line with inflation.

It will follow rises in retail price inflation for 2024-25 and ‘rounded to the nearest pound’ the Budget report said.

Air Passenger Duty for short haul international flights will remain unchanged.

Following the recent cut in domestic APD, the rate will rise slightly to £7.

The increases will be felt most with long haul trips.

Flights to destinations to the Middle East and transatlantic journeys will see APD rise to nearly £100.

For destinations less than 2,000 miles away, APD goes up from £13 to £14.64.
