AirAsia powers up Penang hub
KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia is launching services from Penang to Hong Kong, starting July 31.
It will be AirAsia’s sixth international service from Penang after Singapore, Bangkok, Medan, Jakarta and Macau.
It will also be AirAsia’s third international service to Hong Kong after Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
The new sector to Hong Kong, and the introduction of a second frequency to Singapore, is open for booking until July 12 for the travel period July 31, 2009 – April 30, 2010.
AirAsia will be offering an all-in fare starting from RM99 to Hong Kong and RM51 to Singapore to mark the launch of these sectors, online via www.airasia.com or mobile.airasia.com
Kathleen Tan, regional head of commercial, says, “AirAsia is increasing frequencies where there is proven demand, which there certainly is for the Penang – Hong Kong and Penang – Singapore routes.
“Moving forward, we are hoping to introduce new sectors to Shenzhen and Guangzhou from Penang.â€
