AirAsia relocating to Changi Airport’s new T4
Low-cost carrier AirAsia is shifting Singapore flight operations to Changi Airport’s new Terminal 4 from next month.
Relocation day is November 7 when it moves from its current home at Terminal 1.
All flight times at the airport will remain unchanged, AirAsia said.
The fully automated T4 officially opens on October 31 and cost S$985 million to build.
It will have 19 check-in kiosks and 14 auto bag drop machines, and the move is in line with the airline’s digital transformation mission.
"This year, the focus in Singapore is to embrace Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST). We collaborated with Changi Airport Group to automate and innovate our check-in and airport experience. When you fly out of Changi with us, expect a fully automated service with FAST from door to gate, which integrates seamlessly into our own innovations on mobile and web," said AirAsia Singapore CEO Logan Velaitham.
Passengers on flights departing or arriving after November 7 will be notified of the terminal change and are asked to plan ahead.
"Guests departing from Terminal 4 are advised to arrive three hours before departure to ensure sufficient time to move through the new terminal, while those arriving in Terminal 4 are advised to inform their loved ones of the change," the airline said in a statement.
A 24-hour shuttle bus service will link the new terminal with Changi Airport’s Terminal 2.
