AirAsia to levy fuel surcharges
AirAsia Malaysia is imposing fuel surcharges for all domestic and international flights as fuel prices spike to over US$120 per barrel.
The airline hasn’t charged extra for fuel since 2015 when oil prices dropped to below US$48 per barrel.
“Unfortunately, the current situation where the oil price has shot up more than 160% has made it no longer sustainable,” said AirAsia Malaysia chief executive officer Riad Asmat.
The fuel surcharges apply to new bookings on March 8. The cost ranges from RM10 for all domestic flights to RM60 for international flights over four hours.
