Airbnb rolling out Trips experiences to more Asian destinations
Airbnb is introducing its ‘Trips’ local experiences to three new markets in Asia.
Locally operated activity experiences will be added to Melbourne, Bali, and Hong Kong from next month.
Airbnb now offers about 600 experiences in Asia Pacific and more than 3,000 globally a year after officially launching the service.
The three new markets will bolster the number of tours and experiences by 120, Airbnb said.
It already curates locally operated tours and activities in Bangkok, Queenstown, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh New Delhi, Osaka, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
"Travellers are seeking alternative adventures, whether they are travelling alone or with groups of friends or family. As well as seeking unique accommodation options, there is the desire among travellers to destinations such as Bali and Melbourne to enjoy their destination through the eyes of a local," said Parin Mehta, APAC Trips director at Airbnb.
"Airbnb has emerged as a platform for people to monetise their passions and talents. Our greatest assets are time and potential and Experiences is a way to unlock that."
New products being introduced include a Vespa tour and hiking in North Bali, a Kangaroo quest in Melbourne and a tour with a local fashion designer in Hong Kong.
Airbnb has also added activities in Hawaii, Buenos Aires, Costa Rica and Jamaica to its global inventory.
