Airbnb testing travel package product in San Franciso

Monday, 27 Oct, 2015 0
Airbnb will begin testing a new managed travel service next month, which goes beyond its core service an accommodation booking platform.

Called Journeys, it is being trialed in San Francisco and will offer 3 or 5 day ‘handcrafted trips’ which include accommodations picked by Airbnb, pickup from the airport, one meal a day and activities and excursions based on interests, such as nature, food or touring the city’s hippest spots.

Activities offered so far range from biking, kayaking and sailing, foodie tours and wellness activities such as yoga or meditation.

The ‘packages’ are priced at up to $750 and currently only available for invited customers who began receiving emails last week promoting the new service.

"We’re piloting a new Airbnb experience: handcrafted trips. We’re extending a limited number of invitations to explore the city of San Francisco in an entirely new way – with the locals who live here," Airbnb said.
