Aircraft hits deer on runway
An American Airlines regional jet was forced to abort takeoff after hitting a deer on the runway.
The Embraer 145 plane with 42 passengers struck the animal at the Williamsport Regional Airport in the US state of Pennsylvania.
No passengers were injured but the deer was killed.
Airport executive director Thomas J. Hart said the buck probably got through or jumped a perimeter fence.
Only minor damage was spotted to the plane after an initial visual check, but it was taken out of service for a full inspection, Hart said.
The passengers were rebooked on a later flight to Philadelphia.
The American Eagle branded service is operated for AA by subsidiary Piedmont Airlines.
