Airline bosses push Biden to drop mask mandate
After Southwest Airlines flight attendants urged the White House to scrap the federal mask mandate, airline CEOs are now doing the same.
The bosses of 10 airlines signed a letter to President Biden seeking the end of masks on flights, as it‘no longer makes sense in the current public health context.’
They also called for travel testing to be lifted.
“The US inconsistency with these practices creates a competitive disadvantage for US travel and tourism by placing an additional cost and burden on travel. Further, many outbound travelers are not willing to risk being stranded overseas, ”it said.
The letter was sent by Airlines for America, on behalf of American Airlines, Delta, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue and others.
They argue the US has fallen behind countries like the UK, Canada and the EU, which have dropped testing.
