Airline startup Flypop chooses London Stansted as UK base

Tuesday, 01 Jul, 2021 0

Airline startup flypop has selected London Stansted Airport as its first UK base.

The flypop team expects strong long-term demand for direct flights between the UK and key ‘secondary cities’ of India.

"During the pandemic we have been in talks with a number of UK airports and we can now confirm London Stansted as our first UK base. London Stansted Airport has a history of being the base for low-cost carriers and we feel it is the perfect fit for our passengers," said Navdip Singh Judge, CEO and Principal of flypop.

"flypop is focused on serving the Indian and South Asian diaspora communities living in the UK and London Stansted is the most convenient airport location."

It is currently in negotiations with a number of second city airports across India and will shortly be confirming its first Indian airport hubs.

London Stansted’s Managing Director, Steve Griffiths, said: "We welcome the decision by flypop to select London Stansted and look forward to working with the airline as it develops its route network plans in advance of the safe return of travel between the UK and India."

flypop is a new low-cost UK airline focused on  affordable non-stop flights between the UK and the secondary cities of South Asia, starting with India.

Core market segments are the South Asian diaspora communities in the UK, Europe and North America, ‘visiting friends and relatives’, (VFR) and tourists.
