Airlines extend flight cancellations to Sharm
Airlines have announced they are cancelling holiday flights to Sharm el Sheikh for a further 13 days.
Thousands of holidays will be cancelled after Thomas Cook, Monarch and Thomson said their flight and holiday programmes to Sharm el Sheikh would be cancelled up to and including Wednesday, November 25.
Thomas Cook is offering customers due to travel over this time the opportunity to cancel or re-book their holiday free of charge, offering a £25 discount per person on the alternative holiday booked.
Both Thomas Cook and Thomson are offering customers booked up to and including Thursday December 10 2015 a free amendment to their holiday – to be taken by April 2016.
Monarch said customers can either request a full refund or can book to another destination free of charge for travel up to December 16.
It said: "We recognise this is a very frustrating situation and apologise for the inconvenience this is causing our customers."
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) travel advice is still advising against all but essential air travel to Sharm El Sheikh.
Airlines had previously cancelled flights up to November 12. British Airways said it was reviewing flights from Thursday November 12 and that it would notify customers as soon as it could.
EasyJet has yet to confirm its plans for outbound flights but has updated its website with a provisional flight plan for repatriating holidaymakers based on its ‘current understanding of the situation in Sharm el Sheikh’.
It should mean all delayed passengers would be home by the end of next weekend at the latest.
Click here for easyJet’s new timetable, which it says may be subject to change, and is still subject to confirmation with the authorities.
