Airlines Make the Skies a Wee Bit Friendlier
In the window between summer and holiday travel, airlines typically throw out travel incentioves to get people moving and traveling to in late the fall through to early winter. The latest incentive comes from American Airlines.
American offered a freebie for those that can afford it. People who fly to the United Kingdom in first class, business class or on some economy-fare tickets can earn a free companion ticket to the U.K. or the Caribbean.
British Airways on Tuesday expanded a free hotel deal to all its British destinations, including London.
Delta Air Lines offered double bonus miles on Delta and Air France flights between Los Angeles or New York City and London; New York City and Lyon, France; and Salt Lake City and Paris.
Delta followed that up with a double “Medallion Qualification Miles” promotion on Delta Shuttle flights from New York to Boston or Washington.
The American promotion has the usual list of rules: You have to register first, then fly by Dec. 31 to get the free ticket, which can be used between Jan. 15 and Dec. 15, 2009.
