Airport closes as control tower breaks down
Budapest airport was temporarily closed this weekend due to electrical problems at its control tower.
Easyjet said flights scheduled to operate through Budapest on Friday had been re-scheduled to operate on Saturday.
Officials had said the airport would be closed until Saturday morning. The airport’s website confirmed that it reopened at 7am on Saturday but asked all passengers to contact airlines for more information.
Commenting on the closure it said: "Ensuring the reliable operation of the equipment in the tower, guaranteeing the safety of aviation, is of the utmost importance."
