Airport restrooms: clean sweep
Airports are cleaning their restrooms more frequently, adding attendants to the budget and even adding such amenities as dried flower arrangements.
Why? It’s all part of an effort to boost restroom quality.
“Restroom cleanliness is always one of the top five drivers of customers satisfaction,” Lysa Scully of the Port of Authority of the major New York City airports told USA Today.
Airport restroom innovations include:
• Washroom attendants in Charlotte are handing out towels, mints and mouthwash as part of a test program.
• Extra bathroom attendants in Newark pick up paper, dry countertops and mop up water during peak flight periods.
• Touchless sinks and toilets at the Fort Smith, Arkansas, airport helped lead it to be named the nation’s best public bathrooms by Cintas, which sells bathroom supplies.
“It’s important for good health and good business to have a clean restroom,” said Cintas spokesman Mike Wallner.
