Airport shooting injures four people
A Christmas Day family dispute went badly wrong at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport leaving four people injured, with one fighting for life.
Three people were shot and another was stabbed.
It happened in a restaurant at Terminal 4, causing a temporary closure of a security checkpoint and disruption to the terminal’s PHX Sky Train station.
Two males were shot as was a female whose injuries are ‘life threatening.’ A fourth person was stabbed.
All of them are known to each other police said.
“I do believe that this was a family dispute that escalated,” Phoenix police Sgt. Mayra Reeson said.
A man and a female juvenile were later detained in an airport parking garage and could face charges.
This man had at least one stab wound, Phoenix police said.
The incident happened in a public area before TSA security screening. It is not known if any of those involved were at the airport to catch a flight.
“Of course, this was scary, this was Christmas evening, everybody’s trying to get home,” Reeson added.
Reeson also shared some details of another ‘unrelated’ incident after a man showed up at the airport with a gun.
He was arrested and could face charges.
