Airports warn of higher airfares in 2026

Tuesday, 30 Dec, 2025 0

Manchester Airport issued a warning to holidaymakers that their 2026 holidays will ‘inevitably’ cost more.

MIA is one of the hardest hit airports due to upcoming increases in property tax.

Its property tax bill for next year is likely to rise by more than £4 million.

Air travellers are being braced for potential fare hikes.

Manchester isn’t the only airport affected.

Regional airports across the UK are having to pay ‘unprecedented’ rises in the property tax next year.

Research by the PA suggests regional airports are among the businesses facing the steepest increases in business rates.

It comes due to a revamp of business rate calculation mechanism.

Although London Heathrow and Gatwick will see significant increasesm the sharpest hikes are at regional airports outside the southeast.

Several airports could potentially see the rates double within three years.
