AITO and CARTA strengthen bond
AITO has signed all 130 CARTA agents to ‘preferred’ status.
CARTA (Campaign for Real Travel Agents) members are now recognised as AITO-preferred agents. From 1 September AITO will get more high-street presence and direct sell operators will be able to sell through agents with a booking fee arrangement instead of commission. The idea is to encourage all AITO operators to sell through CARTA agents.
The two organisations have worked closely in the past, but the latest deal sees this co-operation stepped up. The deal was agreed at a general meeting held recently in Central London.
AITO has 152 members, including four operators signed during June. These were Lithuanianholidays.com, Shortbreaks Limited, Travel Editions – both European breaks specialists, and Open Holidays, which organises tailored holidays in southern Europe.
