AITO opts for Hungary

AITO has announced the destination for its 2005 agency conference.

Budapest beat competition from Andalucia in Spain and Riga in Latvia to win the event, which will be held on June 9-12.

The AITO Specialist Travel Agents conference is a networking event for members of the organisation to discuss issues affecting agents and also to network with AITO operator members to establish and affirm relations.

This year’s conference will include the usual marketplace for networking as well as sightseeing tours and a range of post-conference trips to destinations such as the Villany-Siklos wine region.

In order to qualify as an AITO Specialist Travel Agent, previously known as CARTA, agents must meet criteria and pay a £350 subscription fee per head office and additional £100 per branch.

The membership includes two training workshops per year, a free place for each head office and each branch office at the domestic conference in Warwick in January and cluster training events, which take place throughout the year.

AITO’s other annual conference is the operator event, which is held every November and last year took place in Croatia.

This year’s destination has not yet been announced.
