Albany tulip festival among ABA Top 100
Albany, N.Y.’s 60th Annual Tulip Festival has been chosen as one of ABA’s Top 100 Events in North America for group travel in 2008.
The 60th Albany Tulip Festival, a celebration of the city’s Dutch heritage, will take place May 9-11, 2008, in Albany’s Washington Park and other venues. For the festival, more than 200,000 tulips are planted throughout New York’s Capital City. The festival begins on Friday with the Dutch tradition of scrubbing of State Street.
Throughout the festival, historic Washington Park, decked out with thousands and thousands of tulips, is the backdrop for entertainment on three stages, more than 100 crafters, a host of food vendors and family fun entertainment. Among the highlights of the festival is the crowning of the Albany Tulip Queen on Saturday in Washington Park. Contact: www.albany.org
