Aloha, take your seat
In a major switch, Hawaiian Airlines is eliminating its open seat policy on inter-island flights. Seat assignments will begin next month.
The airline says the change will make boarding more orderly and efficient for passengers on its 700 weekly inter-island flights.
Rival carrier Aloha said it has no similar plans.
Aloha, which has 616 inter-island flights a week, tested seating briefly in the 1980s. But the company says it was not popular.
