Alsace taps into beer tourism with a dedicated map
With breweries from North to South, Alsace establishes itself as an essential territory for beer in France. This region bordering Germany in Eastern France records over 100 breweries, from national giants such as Kronenbourg or Meteor to a myriad of craft breweries and microbreweries. In France, it is the number 1 region in production with 82% of produced hop.
Alsace is indeed the only region in the country that is both wine-producing and beer-producing. While tourists have known Alsace wines for years by exploring its famed Route des Vins d’Alsace and its pictorial typical wine villages, beer tourism remains much more undercover. Alsace is consequently at becoming now a major player to the promotion of beer tourism.
Alsace is committed to showcasing its rich brewing heritage in a spirit of conviviality. Beer tourism combines the discovery of brewing traditions, contemporary productions, landscapes adorned with hop trellises, as well as traditions and know-how. It is characterized by numerous activities, such as:
> Brewery visits
> Tastings and brewing courses
> Fun and unusual activities
> Hops walks and bike tours
> Events and festivals
> Beer gardens
The new map dedicated to beer tourism lists 75 Alsatian breweries open to the public. But not only!
It also highlights themed cycling routes, activity ideas around beer, and provide key figures of the sector.
Available from this summer in tourist offices and breweries, it brings to fruition a dynamic initiated during the last “Forum Alsace, a brewing land”, hosted early July.
