American Airlines approved for more Cuba flights

The U.S. Transportation Department has green-lighted American Airlines’ request to resume service to more Cuban airports.

American got approval for flights from Miami to Santa Clara, Holguin, Matanzas/Varadero and Santiago de Cuba.

Service to various regional airports had been blocked by the Trump administration in 2019 and 2020.

USDOT revoked these restrictions last month

Trump had put a cap on charter flights to Cuba and later suspended all private charter flights to the country.
