American Airlines axes Austin routes
American Airlines is slashing flights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The Fort Worth-based carrier plans to cut 21 Austin routes next year.
The airline currently serves 46 destinations from Austin.
It will start making schedule adjustments progressively next year.
It won’t affect the main AA hubs it flies to from Austin.
Austin Airport said most of the routes being scrapped are still flown from Austin by other airlines.
The Austin flights being ditched include Albuquerque, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, Cozumel and Jacksonville.
“Austin remains an important market for American as we continuously evaluate our network,” the airline said.
“American will continue to offer customers service to 15 of the top 20 markets from AUS.”
