American Airlines increases transatlantic bag fees
American Airlines has hiked checked bag fees for transatlantic services.
With immediate effect fees are up from $60 to $75 for flights to Europe and Africa on basic economy fares.
The increase in waived for bookings made before April 21, 2020, the airline said.
"Bag fees between Europe, Israel, Morocco and U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean Central America, South America or connecting via Europe to another destination have been updated," the AA website said.
Standard economy fares still include one free checked bag.
In a statement to AwardWallet, the airline said the fee hike will ‘better align our bag fee structure with our Atlantic joint business partners.’
They are British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair.
