American Airlines pilot infected with coronavirus
A Dallas based American Airlines pilot has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The airline said the pilot is receiving treatment.
"We are in close contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and public health officials and are coordinating with them on all required health and safety measures,” said American spokesperson Curtis Blessing.
It is thought to be the first known case of an infected US commercial pilot although airport medical screeners and TSA officers have contracted the virus.
A number of cabin crew in Asia and elsewhere have also been infected during the course of their in-flight duties.
The airline hasn’t disclosed the pilot’s identity or where and when the pilot last flew a plane.
