American Airlines rolls out VeriFLY ‘health passport app

American Airlines is rolling out the VeriFLY ‘health passport’ app for all inbound flights to the US.

It follows a successful trial period on limited routes to South America and the Caribbean.

The airline says thousands of passengers have already used the app.

It allows passengers to upload a negative test result and other documentation needed for cross-border entry.

It also serves as a one-stop source of information for international travelers to learn what restrictions and requirements are imposed at their destinations.

From 23 January passengers can download the fully operational app and use it for inbound flights to the US.

Following a CDC order, all international travelers require a negative Covid test before being allowed to board US-bound flights.

"We support the implementation of a global program to require Covid-19 testing for travelers to the United States, and we want to do everything we can to make travel a seamless experience for customers," said Julie Rath, the airline’s Vice President of Customer Experience.

American began testing the app in November for outbound flights out of Miami to Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica.

It was then expanded for flights to Columbia, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

American collaborated with tech firm Daon to develop the app.
